Humanity has a first name

STAND UP FOR HUMANITY IS STANDING UP FOR PEOPLE.
REAL PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME.

A human society seems self-evident, but it is not. In practice, some people matter, others much less.

We sometimes tend to forget that behind words like 'refugees', 'war dead' and 'climate victims' there are real people. Their human rights seem less important, yet they are just as human as you and me.

11.11.11 stands up for all those people who hide behind stories of exploitation. For Ahmet and Acheni and Esther and Khaled and Uwezo.

Shoulder to shoulder with Omar and Passy and Miriam and Escarleth and Johan – people who make a difference as activists, donors or volunteers – we fight for a human life. Will you join us?

Hatred and violence must never win

That is why we are taking to the streets for more humanity. And if you put humanity first, then the human suffering in the Gaza war is the issue we need to talk about. More than 40.000 people have already been killed. Hunger is omnipresent and there are even calls for ethnic cleansing.  These are inhumane acts, war crimes.

In the period of November 11, we focus the spotlight on the serious human rights violations that we see today in Gaza and Lebanon. We ask people worldwide to see themselves as human, to join in action and to support our fight for humanity.

My activism is thirty years old now, and in that long period I have taken our message to people in dozens of ways and motivated them to join the fight. The reason I keep doing it is because I know it works. I see it working.

I support 11.11.11 with a monthly donation. The injustice in the world really upsets me. 11.11.11 has the right vision to combat them for me. They take the lead on all kinds of themes with well-founded arguments. 10 years ago I went to the Philippines. I could see with my own eyes how they work on the ground with organizations that stand up for their rights.

In Lebanon I saw not only the misery of many people on the run, but especially the incredible impact of human rights organizations. That is why I make it my fight to convince more people here of the importance of international support.
