Discover our storiesIn Bolivia, local organizations are working together with 11.11.11 daily strives for democratic, ecological, social and economic justice. And that is urgently needed. The country is struggling with droughts, deforestation, and threats to food and water security. Together with our partners, we support the struggle of the Bolivians!
Our partners in Bolivia are fighting for:
Large-scale agricultural corporations and illegal logging are causing massive deforestation in Bolivia, with serious consequences for biodiversity and the indigenous communities that depend on the forests.
Local organisations want to show that things can be done differently. They work together on sustainable forest management, the protection of water sources, and sustainable agriculture in the forest. In this way, they want to combat illegal logging and be an alternative to the large agricultural companies that produce for export abroad.
Bolivia faces major climate challenges. Increasingly long and frequent droughts are leading to water shortages for agriculture and drinking water. The partners of 11.11.11 work together with local organizations that support communities for better water management and irrigation systems. The partners of 11.11.11 also try to influence the government to come to a fair climate policy. For example, our partner Plataforma Boliviana Frente al Cambio Climático (PBFCC) pioneer of an innovative initiative: the 'climate emergency law'. In 2024, our partners were also involved in organizing the Social Forum for the Amazon in Bolivia. This forum brought together organizations and communities for the protection of the Amazon and for the promotion of indigenous communities' visions on economy and society.
Poverty and inequality remain deeply embedded in Bolivian society. Anniversary Foundation plays a crucial role in analyzing data on poverty, prices and government spending. Based on these analyses, they make proposals for fairer economic policies. The foundation also focuses on reforming the tax system. Through a better tax system, they want to finance development and redistribution. The state's debt burden also weighs heavily on the budget, and has risen sharply after the corona crisis.
11.11.11 and its partners also collaborate with the regional network LatindadThis organization focuses on tax justice, combating tax evasion and climate financing.
Bolivia is experiencing great political unrest. No other country has seen as many coups in recent history as Bolivia. In this turbulent climate, local communities are often at odds with economic actors who rely on the exploitation of natural resources. These local communities are taking action because companies are destroying their living environment and trampling on human rights. The partners of 11.11.11 support these communities in their struggle. They work in difficult conditions and often have to fight against repression and intimidation.
By collaborating with 11.11.11 we can strengthen our capacities and more effectively defend the rights of indigenous peoples and the environment in Bolivia.
