WAR, POVERTY OR CLIMATE CHANGE FORCES PEOPLE ALL OVER THE WORLD TO FLIGHT
More than 117 million people worldwide are fleeing war, violence and persecution. Most refugees are internally displaced people seeking safety within their own countries. Others find shelter in neighbouring countries, mainly low- and middle-income countries, while only a minority seek asylum in distant countries.
Fleeing is not a choice. People risk their lives in search of safety and are often confronted with violence and human rights violations along the way. In the countries of arrival, reception and solidarity are sometimes hard to find. Together we fight for the rights of people on the run.
