Citizen initiatives for international solidarity

More than 800 citizen initiatives for international solidarity are registered with the 4th Pillar Support Centre. They support organisations and projects in 140 countries worldwide.
60000
Approximately 60.000 volunteers are involved in this very diverse group of initiatives. All initiatives together give between 50 and 65 million euros annually to their partner organizations.
435000
In 2024, we distributed 435.000 euros among these citizen initiatives for international solidarity.
Why do we work together?
Alone, with a group of friends, or with an entire organization. Just started or already active for 35 years. All that diversity in initiatives makes the 4th Pillar a strong group with strong projects worldwide.
From preventive health care in Tanzania to a library with thousands of books in the Dominican Republic, many Belgians support a project for international solidarity.
11.1.111 believes in the added value of these small-scale, meaningful projects. And sees them as important actors for international solidarity. That is why we started the 15th Pillar Support Point about 4 years ago.

How do we work together?
More than 800 citizen organisations have now joined the 4th Pillar Support Centre – together these initiatives are stronger. All citizen organisations can contact the support centre for support and advice. The support centre uses a database also strongly in mutual exchange. Because everyone has expertise for others.
In the online manual you will also find a lot of advice. For what you do not find there, you can go to the helpdesk of the support center. Or at one of the many training and networking events organized by the support center.

Who are they?
4th Pillars are 'doers' who not only give money, but also roll up their sleeves. According to their own possibilities and interests, they contribute to a better world. They fill in their involvement in a unique way, in close contact with the project.
We bundle the stories of 4th Pillar organizations and put them in the spotlight. These are projects that inspire, people that activate, both are central.

"The 4th Pillar Support Center organizes the 'Day of the 4th Pillar' every year. That initiative really gives energy. It is a bit of a recharge every time."
