Volunteers (W/M/X) for a Solidarity & Support Project for Domestic Workers & Au Pairs in Belgium
Omschrijving van de vacature
FAIRWORK Belgium is a Belgian non-profit organisation defending and promoting the labour rights of workers without, or with precarious, residence status.
For the past 15 years, we have been running a solidarity and support project for migrant domestic workers and au pairs — offering information, assistance, and a strong sense of community.
Our activities started in Brussels, but since 2023 we have also been active in Antwerp and Liège to reach more workers in need. Now, we are looking for enthusiastic new volunteers to join our multicultural team!
As a volunteer, you will help with the practical aspects of our project and support the socio-cultural activities offered to migrant domestic workers and au pairs.
Our activities focus on two main groups:
- Migrant domestic workers, mainly from Latin America and the Philippines
- Au pairs from all over the world (over 20 nationalities, both EU and non-EU citizens)
These activities take place on Sundays, rotating between Brussels, Antwerp, and Liège, and include:
- Café FAIRWORK: a warm, welcoming get-together where participants share food, drinks, and conversation in a safe atmosphere of solidarity and friendship
- Information sessions on the labour rights of domestic workers and au pairs
- Workshops
- Socio-cultural activities (museum visits, guided city tours, cultural events, etc.)
Would you like to join a wonderful group of courageous and inspiring domestic workers and au pairs (most of them women) in a multicultural and friendly atmosphere? Would you like to help improve their living and working conditions? Then this initiative is for you!
We would love for you to start in September 2025, but later dates are also possible. We are always happy to welcome new volunteers!
