Programme Officer International Cooperation

Omschrijving van de vacature

International Cooperation Office

Introduction

The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) is internationally recognized as a center of excellence for education, research and service delivery in the field of tropical medicine and public health in low and middle income countries (LMIC). Its international cooperation activities are mostly funded under the ITM DGD Multiyear Programme (2022-2026) which currently includes (1) institutional capacity strengthening programmes with 24 partner institutions in 12 LMIC countries, (2) a scholarships programme, (3) policy support to Belgian development actors, including the Belgian ministry of foreign affairs and (4) synergy activities with other institutions of higher education.

ITM’s International Cooperation Office coordinates, supports and promotes all capacity sharing activities, builds synergies with other actors and supports the academic promotors to implement the programme activities. It will also have a pivotal role in the design of the next programme, facilitating the process and building on the expertise in the three academic departments of ITM.

As the programme is approaching its final phase, the core coordination team must shift its attention to the design of a next multi-annual programme. This creates the need to temporarily reinforce the international cooperation office with a programme officer focussed on implementing activities and collecting monitoring and evaluation data.

Your role

  • Programme implementation

    • You will offer support and advice to academic staff both at ITM and from partner institutions in the implementation of their agreed upon programme of activities.
  • Support the collection of data for the key monitoring and evaluation indicators
    • You will support the partner institutions and ITM academic promotors to collect the information that feeds the indicators that help monitor progress and evaluate impact.
    • You will support the organisation of evaluation activities that are part of the program’s evaluation plan/strategy – these can be online or in-person meetings, data-collecting forms, moderate online collaboration platforms, etc.
  • Management of internal and external networks
    • On the request of the head of office you may be asked to connect with supporting donor agencies and/or national and international actors related to development cooperation.
