At CATAPA we defend the right to say no. This is the inalienable, collective and fundamental right of a community to say No to extractive projects on the lands they live on or depend on.

Every day, hour, and minute, communities are fighting destructive projects in their region. They are deprived of their communal land by multinational mining companies to mine metals and minerals. The result? An unfair global system which harms people, land, water, air and nature for profit.

That’s why CATAPA is actively supporting communities in their Right to Say No and the right to say yes to another way of living and relating with their surroundings. We are pushing for the right to live and create a future not based on extractivism, but on reciprocal, interdependent and caring relationships of communities with the land they are living within and depending on.

Catapa streeft naar het recht om ‘nee’ te zeggen, the Right to Say No. Dit verwijst naar het onvervreemdbare, collectieve en fundamentele recht van een gemeenschap om Nee te zeggen tegen mijnbouwprojecten op het land waar ze van leven of afhankelijk van zijn.

Elke dag, elk uur en elke minuut strijden gemeenschappen tegen destructieve projecten in hun regio. Multinationale mijnbouwbedrijven beroven hen van hun gemeenschappelijk grondgebied om metalen en mineralen te delven. Het resultaat? Een oneerlijk wereldwijd systeem dat mensen, land, water, lucht en natuur schaadt uit winstbejag.

Daarom ondersteunt CATAPA actief gemeenschappen in hun Right to Say No en het recht om ja te zeggen op een andere manier van leven en omgaan met hun leefomgeving. We ijveren voor het recht op leven en het creëren van een toekomst die niet gebaseerd is op extractivisme, maar op wederkerige, wederzijds afhankelijke en zorgzame relaties van gemeenschappen met het land waarop ze leven en waarvan ze afhankelijk zijn.
