Putin's false flag operation to "save ethnic Russians" from a completely fictional genocide. Ukrainian president Zelensky's smart and continuous online communication debunking false narratives being spread online through fictitious online accounts. These examples should make it clear to all that we have entered the disinformation age. The current Russian-Ukrainian war may well be the first disinformation war our world has seen.
This hybrid form of warfare raises a lot of questions and touches on core beliefs such as the freedom of expression and of the press. MO*editor Pieter Stockmans has been following the Russian attacks on independent journalism for years and will discuss this and more, together with prominent expert Peter Pomerantsev.
