Ujeli Care Centre Belgium

Ujeli Care Centre (UCC) aims to provide free medical support and health care for children in need of Pokhara, Nepal. From its origin in 2012, UCC has strived to improve health education, services and policies that protect all poverty-stricken children of Nepal. UCC works to make the child’s environment a safe place to grow.

Led by Dr. Dinesh Prasad Koirala, a local pediatric surgeon from Pokhara and an avid defender of children’s rights, UCC is raising the medical and hygienic standard of health care for children. Dinesh is both the founder and the inspiration behind the roots of Ujeli. He has adopted UCC as his lifework and directs the project year-round. Actually, the whole Koirala family plays a vital role in the success story UCC has grown to become. Through this respected family, the whole local community has embraced UCC in their hearts as a meaningful and sincere project in the best interest of the children. 

The activities of UCC in Nepal are supported by VZW Ujeli Care Centre Belgium (VZW UCCB), consisting of young doctors and students who gather funds to reimburse those activities. The organization counts 9 members who direct the project in Nepal in close collaboration with Dr. Dinesh Koirala.

Each year the founding members of VZW UCCB, put together a new team of 10 to 12 volunteers who will dedicate time and effort in sustaining the Ujeli mission and vision. Throughout the year, the volunteers organize fundraising events and activities to raise money to be used exclusively for UCC in Nepal. During summer, this team will travel to Pokhara and participate directly in health education and health care for the children in need.
