GERA
De Global Emergency Response action (GERA) is een samenwerkingsverband van niet-gouvernementele organisaties (NGO's) die zich inzetten voor humanitaire hulp, rampenbestrijding en rampenparaatheid. Als onderdeel van een reactie op de verschillende humanitaire crises helpt het GERA-netwerk van nationale NGO's met de distributie van hulp binnen de eigen grenzen.

Missie
GERA’s Mission is to ensure that all emergency victims receive the help they need to survive and recover, and to create communities worldwide where everyone has access to life-saving aid in catastrophes.
Historiek
Founding and background: GERA (Global Emergency Response Action) was founded in 2018 in Kenya. Since its establishment, GERA has expanded to multiple countries, including Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, France, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Kenya, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and the United States. GERA's three main offices are located in Belgium, France, and the USA. GERA is registered as a vzw in Belgium (O.N. 0741.731.086, RPR Brussels) with its registered seat in Hoeilaart. Project portfolio (2020–2024) GERA has implemented humanitarian projects across Africa and the United States, focusing on: Maternal and child health: Renovation of maternity wards, donation of medical equipment and clothing to pediatrics and maternity units, cleft lip/palate surgeries, and sexual and reproductive health services for pregnant adolescents and young mothers. WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene): Construction of latrine blocks, hygiene promotion committees, safe water distribution, sanitation kits for schools, and COVID-19 prevention measures including handwashing kit distribution and awareness campaigns. Women and youth empowerment: Digital skills training for adults, ICT support for girls in technology, women's soap-making and economic empowerment initiatives, menstrual health training and kit distribution, and youth emergency response training programs. Emergency relief and health support: Emergency medical care, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), food assistance, GBV prevention and sensitization, HIV/AIDS prevention, microfinance support, and MPOX education. Protection and inclusion: Child protection and family reunification, PSEA training and reporting mechanisms, support for Ethiopian returnees, and community-based complaint and feedback systems. Key countries of operation include Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Mali, Liberia, Ethiopia, Central African Republic, Chad, Niger, Burundi, and Côte d'Ivoire.
