Behind MaryGift Walls foundation
Our foundation is funded by a breast cancer survivor and is dedicated to raising awareness about cancer, with a primary focus on breast cancer prevention, risk factors, survivorship, and addressing the stigma and negative narratives surrounding cancer and mental health. In Africa, our initiatives extend to girl child education, women’s empowerment, overall well-being of women, and food security projects, the latter being implemented through our “Operation Feed One” program. The foundation was officially registered in Nigeria in April 2021 and in Belgium in March 2024. Our key target groups include African communities in Belgium and rural women in Africa, ensuring that those most in need receive education, support, and resources for a healthier future.

Missie
Our mission is to empower and support women worldwide who have been affected by breast cancer, mental health challenges, and other health issues. Through education, advocacy, and emotional support, we aim to break the stigma surrounding these conditions and inspire women to embrace their strength and resilience. By fostering a strong community of understanding and compassion, we strive to create a global network that uplifts and advocates for women’s health and well-being. We are also committed to empowering women and girls in rural communities across Africa by equipping them with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to improve their quality of life. Our goal is to build communities of women marked by dignity, equality, confidence, and self-reliance.
Historiek
Behind MaryGift Walls Foundation was founded by a breast cancer survivor with a deep passion for raising awareness about cancer and supporting individuals affected by the disease. Having personally experienced the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, treatment, and the stigma surrounding it, our founder was determined to use her story to educate, empower, and inspire communities to break the cycle of fear and misinformation. Founding & Registration The foundation was officially registered in Nigeria in April 2021 and later in Belgium in March 2024 to expand its reach and impact. Our mission is to create awareness about cancer, particularly breast cancer, by focusing on prevention, risk factors, survivorship, and mental health. We also work to combat the negative stereotypes and stigma surrounding cancer in African communities. Our Focus Areas In Belgium, our primary focus is on cancer education and advocacy, ensuring that African communities have access to accurate information, support networks, and resources for prevention and life after cancer. In Africa, our work extends beyond cancer awareness to girl child education, women’s empowerment, overall well-being, and food security initiatives. One of our key projects, “Operation Feed One,” is dedicated to tackling hunger and improving nutrition for women and children in rural communities. Growth & Impact Since its establishment, Behind MaryGift Walls Foundation has actively engaged with communities through awareness campaigns, educational workshops, outreach programs, and partnerships with key stakeholders. Some of our key achievements include: Sponsoring the education of more than 12 girls from nursery, primary, and secondary school in Nigeria. Providing educational materials to orphans and girls from underprivileged families every new school year. Empowered over 100 women, mainly widows and single mothers, by supporting them in small businesses, along with a few youth entrepreneurs. Organised over 20 food outreaches in different rural communities in Nigeria. Provided more than 1,000 sanitary products, including pads, to girls in need and organised workshops on personal and menstrual hygiene. Offering medical assistance to elderly individuals who have been abandoned by their families. Future Vision As we continue to grow, our goal is to expand our reach, strengthen collaborations, and secure sponsorships to implement larger-scale projects that empower African communities both in Belgium and across Africa. We remain dedicated to breaking the silence around cancer, challenging stigma, and promoting a healthier future for women and families. Behind MaryGift Walls Foundation stands as a beacon of hope, proving that through education, support, and collective action, we can change lives and create lasting impact.
