Help us to design the future of 11.11.11

Can we still talk about North and South or should we discuss inequality in a different way? How do we put diversity and decolonisation into practice? How do we maintain our role as the voice of the voiceless? Do we want to connect others or should we communicate more sharply?  Which direction should 11.11.11 take? Tell us during the digital future workshop HorizOnline, Saturday 26 September.

The world is changing rapidly, and as 11.11.11 we want to play a relevant role in it. That is why we are working on a strategy for the next five years. We are giving new direction to the solidarity compass of 11.11.11 and for that we need your help. With your input we give our movement fresh oxygen from the bottom up.

At the beginning of this year we interviewed numerous volunteers, 4th pillars and employees of member organisations all over Flanders and Brussels. We also listened to our employees and partners in Kinsasha, Lima and Manila. We will elaborate on these insights during the digital future workshop HorizonOnline on Saturday 26 September.

We will open the debate and prepare 11.11.11 for the next five years.  For everyone's safety, we will do this online. That creates some virtual distance, but as we have seen in recent weeks, distance also brings us closer together. We are all 1 of 11.

We need your help

As a participant you can choose from four interactive online brainstorm sessions. Two sessions will take place simultaneously in the morning and afternoon.  You can register for one or two sessions of your choice. Registration for two sessions at the same time is not possible.

The debates will take place via an online video platform, further technical details and the exact times will follow later. Subscribe at the bottom of this page.

Values and terminology

Words matter, which is why we take a close look at our own communication and values framework. We fight for justice and solidarity in North and South, but do these terms and values still correspond to the world we live in? Are there other ways of naming inequality?

Network, grassroots & empowerment

11.11.11 Unites the voice of dozens of NGOs and civil society organisations. We enter into global partnerships with local organisations and would be nothing without all our volunteers. We do everything in our power to strengthen the voice of strong changemakers and organisations. But how do you do that, giving people strength and empowerment?

Help us to fully assume our unifying umbrella role. What gives you energy as a volunteer? What do you expect as a member of us? How do you see your role within the organization?

Decolonisation and diversity

We too are a product of colonisation. We want to make time and space for a real discussion about the importance of decolonization and how we are going to do that within 11.11.11. What ideas need to give way? What are our blind spots? We invite you to hold up a mirror to us and think together about decolonisation, our image, our political work and our partnerships.

Levers for a just society

Together with you we will make the exercise: how do we have an impact on society, politics and public debate? Which levers do we use? Political work behind the scenes, sharp press coverage or direct action on the street: what do you think works best? How do we prepare our methods of action for the future and ensure that 11.11.11 remains an impactful organisation?
