Peggy has worked in the healthcare sector all her life and knows better than anyone how important solidarity is.
 

How did you 11.11.11 get to know?

“As a child I came into contact with 11.11.11. At Chiro we went door to door to sell stuff for the organization. That felt a bit like an obligation at the time, but the freedom and solidarity we experienced during those moments were especially valuable. Later I stood on the other side of the door myself - as the lady who bought something for 11.11.11”, (laughs).

"Over the years, I have continued to follow the organization, as have several other charities. My work in the healthcare sector has made me realize that solidarity does not stop with our neighbors, but that we also need to look out for each other internationally. If we continue to care for each other, then maybe things will turn out well one day."

Why are you taking the step of drawing up a will?

“I had to say goodbye to my husband two years ago. We have no children, and I don’t want to burden my family with all kinds of arrangements. Taking the first step to the notary was difficult, but in life you need courage - even when it concerns death. It confronted me again with the loss of my husband, and thinking about my own farewell was not easy either. The notary and 11.11.11 fortunately guide me well through this process. I feel that this decision will give me peace, and that I can consciously give certain organizations or people a final push. That feels good, and I think I am making the right choice”.

What appeals to you in the work of 11.11.11?

“I am considering 11.11.11 because it is a reliable NGO that has been bringing about sustainable changes in various places around the world for many years, both for people and for nature. The fact that they work together with local, small-scale partners and actively support them, I think is a valuable approach”.
