Women Now
Promote the role of women
Women Now for Development is a Syrian women's rights organization active in Syria, Turkey and Lebanon. With a feminist approach, they offer a range of activities in a number of community centers in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon, in southern Turkey and in the province of Idlib (northwest Syria), such as psychosocial support, discussion sessions, education and vocational and language training. In addition, the organization organizes cultural activities and leadership programs for Syrian women, and does research and policy work on the specific gender-related challenges that Syrian women face.
Women Now is also one of the three local partners in the DGD Lebanon programme that 11.11.11 will be carried out in the period 2022-2026. The organization is working with 11.11.11 and five other Syrian, Lebanese and European organisations are also members of the “Refugee Protection Watch” (RPW) coalition. Since 2019, RPW has been documenting the human rights situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the conditions for safe return to Syria. The coalition has three main objectives: 1) to ensure conditions for a safe, voluntary and dignified return to Syria and to counter forced deportations of refugees in neighbouring countries; 2) to increase the quality of international aid to Lebanon, by involving refugees themselves more actively in the planning of projects and 3) to increase the role of “Refugee-Led Organisations” (RLOs) in the (inter)national response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
