Solidagro
Solidagro uses agroecology to work on a sustainable, fair food and agricultural system in Belgium, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, the Philippines, Mali, Palestine and Senegal. We do this by making citizens aware of their place in the food system and taking action with them for change. We also support farmers and organisations with resources and training and we engage in policy influencing.

For Solidagro, agroecology is the movement, practice and science of how agriculture and environment can strengthen each other in a sustainable way. In addition, according to agroecological principles, farmers should be able to make autonomous choices and receive a fair compensation for their work.
Our projects
Together with numerous national and international partner organisations and farmers, we are working on a global agricultural system that works together with nature and respects the rights of farmers. With technical and financial support, farmers and/or agricultural communities get to work, for example,
* to establish agro-ecological vegetable gardens, water wells and irrigation systems;
* to establish seed banks;
* establish farmer organizations and cooperatives with strong leaders. Together they do policy work, buy materials and/or organize markets to sell their harvest. Our partners also actively engage in other forms of networking.
Furthermore, we bring citizens into closer contact with farmers through De Landbouwbrigades, a project with partners FIAN Belgium and Wervel, and we set up economic models to stimulate the short chain and guarantee a fair income for farmers.
Our philosophy
Solidagro works from the base. We ensure the sustainability of our projects by ensuring that they are supported by farmers themselves. They manage the activities and investments themselves.
