PARCEM
Advises and holds the Burundian government accountable
The aim of PARCEM is to combat corruption, which is unfortunately still widespread in Burundi. They have been successful in this area in the past, including through the Stratégie Nationale de Bonne Gouvernance. As part of their strategy, PARCEM has set up national and provincial hotlines where people can go with their complaints about corruption or human rights violations.
In addition to the fight against corruption, PARCEM also does an excellent job as a government watchdog. They monitor government policy and keep a close eye on the progress of political dialogue and democratic space.
PARCEM is one of the few organisations in Burundi that, despite the many difficulties, always finds a way to provide constructive but independent criticism of government policy.
