Oxfam Belgium/Belgique
You may have already seen it. Oxfam-Wereldwinkels|Fair Trade and Oxfam-Solidariteit became one organisation: Oxfam Belgium/Belgique. The integration was given the green light by the respective general assemblies on 15 February 2020. From now on, we will fight together against inequality and for economic justice. Strong words that we will continue to translate into action, via the world shops and second-hand shops. As a unified organisation, we can better arm ourselves for the challenges that lie ahead and we can have an even greater impact. In a next phase, the intention is to complete the bundling of forces with the French-speaking sister organisation Oxfam-Magasins du Monde, known for fair trade in handicrafts. This is in line with Oxfam International's 'One Oxfam' strategy, which strives for integrated Oxfam operations in every country.
Our Mission
Oxfam Belgium/Belgique is a movement that fights against inequality and for economic justice. We do this in word and deed and with respect for the limits of our planet. In this way we ensure that everyone can lead a dignified life and fully exercise every fundamental right.
Our vision
Oxfam Belgium/Belgium aims for a world in which all people have an influence on local and global decisions that affect them. In this way, we want to make the current system that causes inequality structurally just. Women and girls are at the heart of our fight. They are often the ones most affected by inequality. In our efforts to eliminate this social imbalance and create opportunities for everyone, women play a crucial role.
As part of a global network of influence, we join forces to increase our impact and influence.
By being anchored in Belgium, with a local and national presence supported by a broad volunteer movement, we increase our impact and legitimacy.
By implementing and promoting fair and sustainable trade and strengthening the circular and social economy, we offer producers and consumers a concrete alternative.
Through political and public influence, awareness raising and mobilization we are a critical, driving force for the intended change.
Through development and humanitarian programs within the Oxfam network, we work with local partners to build sustainable solutions for a better future.
