How to delete cookies?

Read here how you can adjust the cookie settings for your web browser and how to delete cookies.

Adjusting cookies in a web browser on a 'fixed device' (PC, laptop)

Internet Explorer versions 9, 10 and 11 (Microsoft)

  • Click on the 'Tools' button. This is the gear icon in the upper right corner.
  • Go to Safety > Delete browsing history.
  • Make sure there is a check mark next to Cookies and website data.
  • Check any other items you want to delete.
  • Click on 'Delete'.

You can also go directly to the 'Delete browsing history' menu using the key combination Control + Shift + Delete.

Automatic deletion: Tools (gear icon) >> Internet Options >> Check 'Delete browsing history on exit' >> OK

Edge (Microsoft)

  • Click on the 3 dots at the top right of the browser
  • Click on Settings
  • Scroll down to Clear Browser Data
  • Click on Choose What to Clear
  • Select Cookies and Saved website data
  • Click Clear

Chrome (Google)

  • Click the 'Customize and control Google Chrome' button. It's the icon with three horizontal lines.
  • Go to 'More tools' > 'Clear browsing data'.
  • Make sure there is a check mark next to Cookies and other site and plug-in data.
  • At the top, behind 'Delete the following items before', select from what point in time the cookies should be deleted.
  • Click on 'Clear browsing data'.

You can also go directly to the 'Clear browsing data' menu using the key combination Control + Shift + Delete (PC) or Command + Shift + Delete (Manzana).

Automatic removal: Customize and control Google Chrome (icon with three lines) >> Settings >> Content settings ... (Privacy) >> Under Cookies check 'Keep local data only until you close the browser' >> Done.

Firefox (Mozilla)

  • Click on 'Open Menu' at the top right. This is the icon with the three lines.
  • Select 'Preferences'.
  • Go to 'Privacy'.
  • Make sure that under the heading 'History' it says: 'Firefox will: Use custom settings for history'.
  • Click on the 'Show Cookies' button.
  • Click on 'Remove All'.

Automatic deletion: Open menu (box with three lines) > Preferences >> Privacy >> Select 'Firefox will: Use custom settings for history' >> Check 'Clear history when Firefox closes' >> Settings ... >> Make sure 'Cookies' is checked > OK.

Safari (Apple)

  • In the menu bar, go to 'Safari'.
  • Select 'Preferences'.
  • Go to 'Privacy'.
  • Under Cookies and website data, select 'Remove all website data'.
  • In the dialog box, select 'Remove Now'.

Opera

  • Click on the Menu (the red O at the top left)
  • click on Settings (or Alt+P)
  • Go to Privacy & Security
  • Click Clear Browsing Data...
  • Select Cookies and other site data...
  • All cookies will be deleted and the message will close automatically.

 

Adjust cookie settings on a mobile device (smartphone, tablet)

iOS 8 or 9 (iPhone / iPad)

  • Go to 'Settings' > 'Safari'.
  • Select 'Clear History and Website Data'.
  • Tap 'Clear History and Data' (iPhone) or 'Erase' (iPad).

Android

  • In the browser, go to 'Settings'. Depending on the device, this is the physical button to the left of the
  • Start/Home button, or the icon with the three blocks at the top right.
  • Go to 'Settings' > 'Privacy'.
  • Select 'Delete personal data'.
  • Make sure there is a check mark next to Cookies and site data.
  • Select 'Delete'.

If the explanation for your browser (version) is not included, use the Help function of your browser or search in a search engine (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.) for 'Delete cookies' in combination with the name of
the web browser you are using and its version number.
